Diet: For Chakras
In this section we will be looking at diet, weight loss and chakras. The first few chakras are what I like to view as the ones whose qualities we can most relate to. These chakras are concerned with survival, ego, attraction and physical mental and emotional power. They are also most affected by diet, and exercise.
We tend to judge these powers based on a person's physical appearance and 'presence'. Great examples of this 'presence' are Sean Connery, John F Kennedy, Gandhi, Marilyn Monroe and the list can go on, but I am sure you get the idea. These people had a hold over us, enthralled us, 3 of these have now passed over and yet still command our attention if they are in the news or in a documentary. Physical appearance has a great deal to do with this. Hand in hand with appearance is a confident and self assured manner. If you do not feel great about yourself or self confident this is picked up by those around you and feeds into a cycle of lack of confidence and experiences which simply back up your negative feelings.
If you feel good about yourself it reflects in your attitude and your life in general.
How we define what we look like and the impression we give others is closely related to our diet and exercise.
Diet
Food has a precise effect not only on our weight but also on our karma. Food feeds karma therefore engraving them further on our karmic templates. The Bhagavat Gita clearly explains the three types of food and their accumalative effect of these on the individual.
Vegetarianism is not some new age fad, the reason behind not eating meat and fish is that as we have karma stored in our chakras so do these animals. When we eat animals they provide us with energy, from the chakras, which contain the karma of that animal. We have then, in effect taken on board the karma of the animal and increased our karma. This makes it even harder for us, to break away from this cycle and spiritually progress. That is not to say that if you eat meat you cannot progress, but at the early stages it will be harder to move past the first few hurdles. After a certain level of spiritual development you will actually find that you will not want to eat meat or fish.

Hence, it recognizes negative emotions like anger, fear, insecurity, jealousy and greed as incorrect thinking on the part of an individual. These can directly create an imbalance in the doshas. Sattva, or peaceful equilibrium, rajas, or excessive activity and tamas, or inertia—the three tendencies or gunas of mind influence the imbalances in the three doshas. Hence the mind-body imbalance impairs the creative functioning of man.
