Sahasrara: The Crown or Seventh Chakra
Location
The Sahasrara or seventh chakra is also known as the crown chakra, and is located at the top of the head. This chakra is the one which is the hardest to master and is the key to enlightenment or ascension.
Properties
This chakra is the seat of Divine where the individual becomes totally aware of his relation to the source or God or whatever you would like to call it. Once mastered it is said that the individual can enter a state of Samadhi. Which is a pure and blissful state.
Visual Representation
The main colour associated with this chakra is white. While the diagramatic representation is a rainbow coloured thousand petaled lotus.
Additional Information
This chakra does not have the duality of male and female deities, the supreme source of inspiration becomes the Guru or teacher within oneself.
When the Kundalini is raised up to Sahasrara Chakra, the illusion of the
"individual self" is dissolved.
Repetition of the powerful Bija Mantra-Om will help in its activation.
Age wise depending on karma this chakra can be active from any age. The planet associated is called Ketu.
Between the Ajna and Sahasrara chakras is a sub chakra just above the ajna called the soma chakra. Activation of this chakra the nectar of bliss is released. This is very important for serious Yogi's, and I do not mean the weekly hatha yoga person.
